Peru is home of more than 3,000 festivals each year resulting from different beliefs and customs. There are festivals to honor patron saints, processions, carnivals, and rituals, many with a mystical side to them and many the result of the fusion of Catholic and pre-Hispanic religious beliefs. Some well-known festivals such as Intirraymi in Cusco (Sun Festival), Virgen de la Candelaria in Puno or Señor de los Milagros in Lima.
